What does the option Optimize do?

When Optimize is enabled, the conversion service will compress images, subset fonts and optimize colors during conversion in order to achieve a minimal file size.

What does the option PDF/A do?

When PDF/A is enabled, the conversion service will convert and merge your documents to a conforming PDF/A document suitable for archiving purposes. For an overview, see The 10 most important things you should know about PDF/A.

How do I share documents from other apps to Pocket PDF?

Standard workflow

In the source app:

  1. Select file(s)
  2. Find the share/send to/open function
  3. Select Pocket PDF as receiving app

The shared file(s) will be added to the Pocket PDF Inbox automatically.

iOS: using the print function

If the source app does not offer a share function (like e.g. Mail), try this:

In the source app:

  1. Select file/mail(s)
  2. Find the print function
  3. In the print preview: pinch zoom on the preview to open the generated PDF
  4. Tap on the share icon
  5. Select Pocket PDF as receiving app

The document will be added to the Pocket PDF Inbox automatically.

Android: using the file system

If the source app does not offer a share function, try this:

In the source app:

  1. Select file(s)
  2. Find the save to file system function to save it
  3. Open Pocket PDF and tap the "+" button
  4. Choose the saved document from the file system

The document will be added to the Pocket PDF Inbox.

How do I import a WhatsApp chat log into Pocket PDF?

In WhatsApp iOS:

  1. Open the chat you want to export
  2. Tap on the chat title
  3. Scroll to bottom
  4. Select "Export Chat"
  5. Choose if you want to attach media or not (note: attached media may result in conversion error if anything other than images and text is present in the chat)
  6. Select Pocket PDF as receiving app

The chat log will be added to the Pocket PDF Inbox automatically.

In WhatsApp Android:

  1. Use the WhatsApp Email chat feature to send the chat log to yourself (note: you can choose whether to attach media. However, attached media may result in conversion error if anything other than images and text is present in the chat)
  2. Open the message in your mail app and save the attached chat log to the file system
  3. Open Pocket PDF and tap the "+" button
  4. Choose the saved document from the file system

The chat log will be added to the Pocket PDF Inbox.

How can I make sure Pocket PDF will not transfer data over my mobile data connection?

Pocket PDF requires an active internet connection in order to upload your file(s) to our conversion service and download the resulting PDF(/A). By default, Pocket PDF will always ask you before using your mobile data connection. You can check if the option Ask before using mobile data is enabled in Settings.

How can I navigate between the Inbox and Outbox?

Swipe from the left side to open the menu and select Inbox or Outbox.

What if I get a conversion error or an unknown error?

One or more input documents could not be converted. If you had the option PDF/A enabled, try again without this option, since not all documents can be converted to PDF/A.
